A man has been filmed bravely saving a plane from fire after it crashed into a tree.
The video shows the man leaping into the flames as flames engulfed the aircraft in an attempt to stop the aircraft burning.
The man has a “great heart” and is “always doing the right thing”, said his wife.
The plane’s captain was not injured and is being treated in hospital for smoke inhalation.
The cause of the crash is not known.
The incident happened in the village of Mzazi in South Africa’s North West province, on Thursday evening.
The captain, whose name has not been released, told the BBC that the plane was flying over a lake when it lost power and began to slow down.
The pilot had been on the ground for a long time, the captain said, and had lost control of the aircraft and was unable to get it into the lake.
The crash occurred after the aircraft hit a tree, the plane crashed into the ground, the fire spread and the pilot became unconscious.
The crew tried to free the pilot from the burning wreckage and he was brought to hospital.
The family has asked people to donate to help them.
The flight was flying to Mzazazi, a village near Johannesburg, to visit relatives.
Mzazaair is located on the banks of Lake Mzzele, which is considered a national treasure.
The village was recently listed as one of the most important in South African history.
The air conditioning system used on the plane has been replaced by a fire extinguisher, and the cabin is still partially engulfed in smoke.
